At TEKsystems, we’re committed to nurturing an inclusive workplace culture and welcoming diversity into every aspect of our business. To celebrate Black History Month, we asked employees from our company’s African Diaspora Employee Network (ADEN) to share their perspectives.
Building genuine relationships with my colleagues at TEKsystems has been foundational to my personal and professional growth.
For me, true growth is not only measured by the next promotion or career advancement—but it’s also about the journey in taking initiative, creative problem-solving and striving to become a subject matter expert.
I’ve gained valuable perspective while navigating through different roles at TEKsystems, expanding my understanding of the business. I feel that our workplace culture empowers employees to own their development through the support of TEKsystems leaders.
Joining ADEN this past year was a great opportunity for me to foster meaningful relationships with others who face similar workplace challenges.
This community provides a sense of family and a safe space to share ideas and knowledge about topics that aren’t normally discussed in the corporate world.
The dialogue from our group events and panel discussions inspires me to reflect and improve upon all aspects of my life. Rising through this company feels possible because many others in this group have advanced over time with determination and hard work.
My personal and professional growth at TEKsystems has benefitted from leaders who take a vested interest and a holistic approach in supporting their employees.
Thanks to access to resources and guidance to help me thrive, I was able to expand my comfort zone through myriad experiences and opportunities that extended beyond my job responsibilities.
The leaders I have interfaced with at TEKsystems have always shared what is possible at TEKsystems. This gives me the motivation to see every day as an opportunity for me to grow my skill set and gain new experiences to prepare myself for the next steps in my career. It has not always been easy, but the relationships that I have built have given me the confidence to speak up as my own advocate.
I joined ADEN because it is important to me to have a sense of community. Growing up in a homogenous community, I have never had people outside my immediate family that looked like me. Even through my college years, I never had a role model with a similar identity to me.
Having peers and leaders with shared experiences here at TEKsystems has helped me to be more authentic in the workplace and in my personal life.
Joining this network has not only kept me informed on inclusion, diversity and equity events, but it has also provided a supportive environment to develop meaningful relationships. I’ve been able to cultivate career plans and experiences that I would never have been able to without this EN: an invaluable arena to discuss our passions—a sounding board for change.
