TEKsystems Announces Partnership with National Education Foundation

Hanover, Md. – July 24, 2013 – The start of a new school year is an exciting time for many, but thousands of kids each year are not afforded the chance to get the education they deserve. TEKsystems® announced today a new partnership with National Education Foundation (NEF) that will focus on helping to close the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills gap in the United States. By partnering, the two organizations can more effectively provide 21st century STEM training and education to disadvantaged K-12 students. The initiative also focuses on supporting the larger American Competitiveness Initiative (ACI) to keep the United States competitive in critical STEM-related fields.
The initiative reinforces TEKsystems’ efforts to support the communities where its employees live and work. Through its initial investment for the 2013/2014 school year, TEKsystems will be providing funding that will give students in six markets across the United States access to NEF’s training courses and Total Solution Services. The first six markets include Baltimore (Ft. Meade); Raleigh, N.C.; Chicago (Schaumburg); Dallas; Denver and Seattle, but the goal is to expand the partnership into several other markets in the future.

Our nation, currently 25th out of 35 countries in math and science, urgently needs quality STEM education to stay competitive in the global economy.
